The Purpose for the Blog

This is an idea I've had for quite sometime but have never acted on.  I wanted to have a place where I could share my drawings, painting and other creative endeavors.  Over the past year I've grown as an artist, pushing myself, trying out new things and making myself vulnerable.  Over the past few months I've participated and bettered myself using watercolors and painting.  Building on my current skills and talents becoming a better artist and working towards doing the art I dreamed of doing as a kid, but most of all, letting go and doing it without the need for perfection.

Recently I came across this type of art I learned was called Urban Sketching and I started to pick up every book I could get my hands (or computer) on.  My research continued as I learned about artists and their own styles as well as this movement so to speak started in the Pacific Northwest and has spread around the world.

All of my life I have never thought of myself as much of a major artist, more so one of those that carries a sketchbook with me everywhere I go.  Although I know there are many disagree with my negative way of viewing myself; I do tend to agree that I am quite talented.  This leads me to my journey, I've been taking my sketchbook with me on every trip, a few active ones at home and in my classroom, but never consistently having one with me.  That is one change I am making, along with some other things when it comes to my artistic efforts and hopes is having something to draw all the time with me.  A few of these things will include my best intention of drawing daily posting here.  For better or worse, I will share what right now I am thinking will be daily although they will not always be gems.

This blog will be for me to share with those of you interested in following me on my art journey.  I am starting with one week, then a month with hopes of making it a year.

Thank you for following me on this journey!
